My 1979 Yamaha XS1100F Web Site

Some time ago I mentioned to some folks I know that I was thinking about installing two auxillary lights on my motorcycle to help light up the road at night. I ride my motorcycle to and from work and when I rode home at night the headlight on my bike just didn't seem bright enough. It didn't seem to light up the road enough for me. At around this same time I had read somewhere about bilberry so I started taking bilberry capsules to see if the stuff really worked at improving a person's night vision.

What I discovered was that it really did help my night vision. After taking bilberry for a few days I decided that I didn't need to install those auxillary lights after all because my night vision had really improved.

What Bilberry did do was to help increase my night vision such that it SEEMED as if I had installed another headlight on the bike! The road ahead of me was so much brighter and it was easier to see things at night. If you don't believe me, try it and see for yourself. If you ride a bike at night you have GOT to try it! You *WILL* notice the difference.

Nutrition for Optimum Vision

"Bilberry is a plant related to the blueberry and cranberry.  It contains a high concentration of flavinoids and anthrocyanosides.   They exert an antioxidant effect and improve ocular circulation.  Bilberry also improves night vision by stimulating rhodopsin production, an essential pigment in the rods used in low light condition vision.  Anecdotally, there is a story of one RAF unit during the Battle of Britain had much higher kill rates at night than other nearby units.   The flight surgeon researched differences in the units and found the only notable difference was that the higher scoring squadron regularly used bilberry jam at tea time since bilberries were found in the wild near the base.  Although the explanation was not apparent at the time, current research supports this observation.
